About Us
SassyDebaser is an art project born in (but not based on) England during 2020 on a train ride from London Waterloo to Kingston Upon Thames.
We are two people who love culture and art in all its forms and are particularly inspired by street and pop art. For a long time we felt like we wanted to explore our artistic sides, but were not able to because of our economic situation, demanding works, lifestyles, lack of confidence in our talents, etc., until one day one of us decided to take a graffitti painting class. After the class we realised this is something we really wanted to do... the only thing we needed was the will to do it and a name we liked.
We both love The Pixies and always felt identified with the song "Debaser", because when we grew up we also wanted to be debasers; however, we also love colour and playfulness and sassiness, and so, if we were going to debase, it would be in a sassy way. SassyDebaser was the obvious result.
We want to explore subjects that are interesting or inspiring to us.
These can be religion, politics, music, cinema, the nature of personal identity, gender conventions and norms or whatever else may catch our eyes.
We hope you enjoy our art, but if you don't, that's also fine.
